O CARNAVAL CARIOCA DO SÉCULO XIX NA VISÃO DOS VIAJANTES ESTRANGEIROS

Resumo

ABSTRACT – Leaving of foreign travelers' observations like Edouard Manet and Jean Baptiste Debret, the work makes an exam of the carnival manifestation from Rio de Janeiro in the XIX century, trying to establish the relationship between those manifestations and the social configuration from the city in that time. In this panorama, it stands out the desire of the carioca leading circles to accomplish the carnival celebrations on the same way as they happened in Europe.
