ABSTRACT – This article has as its primary goal to investigate the fragmented narrative techniques to build an epic used by Alfred Döblin in his novel, Berlin Alexanderplatz. The investigation is based on Walter Benjamin's
discussion of the role of narrative and novel in our society.
