O CONDÃO COGNITIVO: PASSE DE MÁGICA COMO METONÍMIA
Resumo
ABSTRACT – Drawing from the theorectical assumptions of cognitive linguistics, this study investigates the forms of expression of magic in the Cinderella fairy tales, in renditions by Charles Perrault, the Grimm Brothers and William J. Bennett, establishing a relation with the Play Passion and Death of Christ, performed every year in Jesuânia (MG). It is postulated that the wonderful actions, which typify this discourse genre, and the theater editing devices of the scene may have as their base figurative processes which underly the mystery of the spell. When, for instance, in Perrault’s version, the godmother fairy of cinderella gives her a wedding gown, it is verified that the sudden appearance of an object is anchored in the productforprocess metonymy. The making of the gown (process) is underfocused, constituting an edition of the narrative, while the dress (product) is focused. Thus the magic wand constitutes the edition of the narrative through metonymy.
